We talked with Jürgen Kellner about Munich, the customers at his store Magazin and his wishes for the future of F-ABRIC.

Tell us about yourself.
My name is Jürgen. I was born in Regensburg, Germany, and I've been living in Munich for the past 19 years. I'm curious, sometimes passionate and euphoric, bearded, stable, enthusiastic, ill-tempered, cranky, appreciative, genuine and emphatic.

Digital or analog?
Analog.

Do you iron your own clothes?
Rarely.

What's playing over the sound system in your shop?
Nothing, usually. The store is already loud enough as it is. If anything is playing, it'll be indie pop.

France, Italy or Poland?
Through Italy to France.

Why F-ABRIC?
Because of the years of professional collaboration with FREITAG and its team. MAGAZIN shares the same values as the material: innovative and as sustainable as possible.

What do you like about it?
The idea of compostable clothing, for one thing. But more than that, the feel of the material. The designs and striking colors also captured my attention.

Why do your customers like it?
They identify with the brand and like the concept of the material, the clear and unique designs and colors, and the fact that everything is manufactured in Europe. FREITAG customers are loyal.

What else would you like to see from F-ABRIC?
Accessories! Products that keep customers coming back for more, such as hats, scarves, gloves, socks, shirt, a casual sports jacket – items in line with the brand and material.

Do you have a compost bin?
Yes, we have a raised bed built from old EUR-pallets in an urban garden area.

Apart from your shop, what else is worth seeing in your city?
The renaturalized Isar river, Rosengarten beer garden, Viehhof cinema in summer. It's also worth catching a concert at Milla.

What's the biggest cliché about Munich? Does it apply to you?
That the people of Munich are arrogant. But if you've ever shared a table in a beer garden with a handful of strangers from Munich, you'll know that you're in for an extremely entertaining evening. And afterwards you'll go home buoyed by their open, friendly and cheerful disposition and how they enjoy life to the full. Arrogant? That's not me – I'm just confident!

What's your favorite thing in your store aside from F-ABRIC?
The DS case in sulfur yellow!

Where should customers stop off on their way to your shop?
Dinner at Kismet and drinks at Favorit Bar. Shop at Stereo & Stereo café, KULTUR – you can enjoy all the beer gardens in natural surroundings! Definitely take a homemade snack/meal and order nothing but a Maß – that's the tradition! Don't forget the tablecloth and candles. And Volkstheater is one of the most exciting theaters in Munich, as it is where young directors are given the chance to stage their works.
