NEW REFLECTIVE MODELS

Eye-catchers, all-rounders, space savers: Four multifunctional models complete the FREITAG Reflected Bags family

Zurich, August 2024 – Following up on good ideas is a good idea in itself, so FREITAG is expanding its Reflected Bags family from four to eight flexible all-rounders. With the large F691 GLEASON Heavy-Duty Backpack, the versatile F685 HENRY messenger bag, and two practical pouches, the Zurich-based bag-makers take their reflective concept a step further. Four primary materials—a robust fabric made from recycled PET bottles, used truck tarps and reflectors, and discarded car seat belts—combine to create an unmistakable new aesthetic and ensure that future repairs are a breeze.

Past, present, future: Time, in all its three dimensions, plays a central role in the Reflected Bags from FREITAG.The idea behind the reflective bags remains true to the original aspiration: to produce durable, versatile, one-off items using discarded materials. The approach also holds true for the Reflected Bags family, where the focus is on a mix of upcycled and recycled materials. The design of the new bags reflects the present-day aesthetic: reduced, no frills, with unmistakable FREITAG elements, such as the characteristic logo (for once all in black), salvaged car seat belts, and used truck tarps. But FREITAG is also thinking ahead and has designed the four new models from the outset so that they can be easily repaired in the future. 

RECYCLING MEETS UPCYCLING
When choosing materials for its Reflected Bags, FREITAG relies on a combination of recycling, upcycling, and B-stock fabrics. Each of the four primary components—PET, truck reflectors and tarps, and car seat belts—has its own particular characteristics and advantages. The water-repellent fabric made from recycled PET bottles ensures that the reflected bags are both robust and flexible. Back in the day, they would light up trucks in the dark. But now, the reflectors can be placed anywhere owners choose to put them, ensuring more freedom and safety on the road. Thanks to eye-catching outer pockets made from used truck tarp, each item has the one-off character typically associated with FREITAG. And for once, salvaged car seat belts serve as comfortable carrying straps and also provide aesthetic and functional highlights. Effectively, each component plays a part in generating a little more constructive order, reflective safety, and forward-looking reliability for forays out into the city.

FORWARD-LOOKING CONSTRUCTION 
Eight products, one configuration. The Reflected Bags are designed to be as durable and forward-thinking as you would expect of bikeable bags from FREITAG. Moreover, the modular design ensures that in case something happens, repairs are straightforward. In the event of a defect, such as seams that are visible rather than being cleverly concealed, the individual components can be simply substituted. Replacing accessories, too, is straightforward. The modularity concept is an essential step on the journey to greater circularity at FREITAG, because the ultimate aim is to make it easy to remove recyclable components and facilitate their return to their respective cycles at the end of their lives. All FREITAG Reflected Bags are designed following the same principles and make a lasting impression with their unmistakable aesthetics. In a nod to their forward-looking construction, the models are named for some of the world’s outstanding female engineers.

ADJUSTABLE-VOLUME, HEAVY-DUTY TRANSPORTERS FOR FREQUENT TRAVELERS
The messenger backpack holds up to 32 liters and, thanks to its numerous features, will also transport a laptop (in an extra-snug padded compartment), a yoga mat, a water bottle, a U-lock, and a bunch of keys in rapid-access mode safely from A to B.
 
If you prefer a classic, courier-style bag but still value multifunctionality, the F685 HENRY messenger bag is an equally compact alternative. This bag also has an adjustable volume, making it ideal for out-of-the-ordinary shopping and short-term transport jobs. The F685 HENRY offers almost the same transport and fastening options as its counterpart, the F691 GLEASON, and, thanks to an ergonomic three-point harness and soft padding, it is a back-friendly, reflective companion for everyday urban life.
 
The new bikeable bags are joined by two handy pouches, the compact F607 MARKS and the medium-size F608 KNOTT. They double as toiletry bags, cases for all sorts of things, or rapid-access bags-in-bag. They both keep all kinds of odds and ends safely zipped up and are in no way inferior to the aesthetics of their larger counterparts.
